Whether you’re an independent trucker or a professional bus driver, our goal is to provide fast, thorough, and convenient DOT exams that meet FMCSA standards.
What Is a DOT Physical?
A DOT physical is a federally required medical examination for commercial drivers to ensure they are physically and mentally fit to operate commercial vehicles safely. Required every two years for most drivers, these exams evaluate overall health, vision, hearing, cardiovascular function, and other factors that can impact driving safety.
At KFP Medical, our DOT physicals follow all FMCSA regulations and are performed by certified providers experienced in assessing commercial driver fitness.

If a medical issue is identified during your exam, your provider will discuss treatment options or documentation needed to meet FMCSA requirements. Many conditions—such as high blood pressure or diabetes—can be managed and re-evaluated for certification once stabilized.
A urine test is part of the DOT exam, but it is primarily used to check for underlying medical conditions, not always as a drug screen. DOT drug testing may be required separately based on employer or FMCSA guidelines. KFP can provide drug screen services when needed.
